Dana Plato

Popular for a career that span between 1975 and 1999, Dana was a versatile American actress. One of her most notable roles was Kimberly Drummond in the American sitcom “Different Strokes”. She later departed from the show and made attempts on her own. She achieved numerous mixed acting successes. Her acting career ended abruptly in May of 1999 when she committed suicide.

Dana Plato was aged 34 at the time of the tragic incident. She intentionally overdosed on Soma, a muscle relaxant and Lortabm, a painkiller. It is suspected that her reasons arose from poverty and substance abuse. Her appearance on ‘The Howard Stern Show’ made this evident. She also mentioned that by attending a drug and alcohol abuse rehab, she had managed to stay sober for more than 10 years. This was the last show in which she appeared and she also stated that she was experiencing great pressure from run-ins with in-laws. During the show, a lot of callers called and insulted her over various issues. This is also suspected to have added on to her decision to take her life.
