Hunter S. Thompson

Hunter S. Thompson remains to be one of the most celebrated American authors and journalists. His father passed on while he was young and he was raised in poverty. Prior to his journalism career, Hunter served in the US air force. Hell’s Angel is one of his most notable pieces of work. The piece was a saga about an outlawed motorcycle gang. He was also founder of the journalist movement known as Gonzo.

Hunter S. Thompson died in 2005 February after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound. In a suicide note that he left, he stated that he had lived and fulfilled his life’s purpose. He added that given his age, he was getting greedy and that this is what led him to commit suicide. He was 67 at the time of his death and his “Football Season is Over” entitled note stated that he had lived 17 years above 50 and that he was getting too fragile to do what he was once able to do.
