Michael Alfanso

Popularly going by his ring name of Mike Awesome, Michael Alfanso was a professional wrestler who worked in WWF, WCW as well as ECW. He also took part in Frontier martial arts wrestling an all Japan Pro Wrestling which earned him the name The Gladiator. He was a famous figure to the wrestling community and had quite a lot of fans. In February 2007, Alfanso committed suicide at his Tampa Bay house by hanging himself. Some of his friends that went to visit him discovered the body a day later.

It is believed that the pressure that he had from losing family and facing criminal charges is what led him to take his life. Alfanso had just been released from prison a couple of days preceding the suicide and that he had been involved in an argument with his wife about a divorce. Before the suicide, it is reported that he had assaulted his wife.
