Christine Jorgenson

Christine Jorgenson grew famous as a transgender largely due to the fact that she underwent the transition at a time during which transgender wasn’t very common. Born George William Jr., Christine served in the military, fighting for the United States Army during the Second World War. After her service in the military, Christine went to Denmark where she procured a series of sex reassignment procedures. The surgeries were a success and Christine succeeded in becoming a woman. Through the 1960s, Christine became a household name after she was featured on the cover story of the NY Daily News. After the surgeries, Christine adopted female dressing styles and hair styles. She wore lipstick and by just looking at her, you could hardly tell she was born male.
