Kate Bornstein

Katherine Vandam “Kate” Bornstein is another name in the transgender list. Hers is a unique case since she prefers to be gender neutral. The American playwright, author, gender theorist and performance artist was biologically male at the time of his birth. In the year 1986, Kate underwent a gender reassignment surgery which turned out pretty successful. Despite the success of the procedure, Kate identifies as gender non-conforming indicating that she does not refer to herself as a woman and adds that she knows she is not a man. She further makes her case interesting by stating that rather than the traditional he/him or she/her pronouns, she prefers gender neutral pronouns such as ze/hir.
