Travel Buddy: Tips On Travelling Safely During The COVID-19 Pandemic

We know that the year 2020 has been tough on all of us, especially to those who have travel plans for that year. And just as we welcome 2021 and organizations have formulated vaccines for the viral coronavirus, a new variant of the COVID-19 has emerged.

Since most destinations have already opened up and pretty much a lot of you have been giddy to take their respective vacations, we have prepared helpful tips on keeping safe during your travels. Read on!

#1 Research

Before you face your gadgets and book your flights and accommodations, you must first go on your trusted search engine and do some research on which airline or hotel to take and book that matches your safety standards. You should also do some research on the destinations and tourist spots you wish to go to regarding their safety protocols during this pandemic.

Are they practicing the required protocols to ensure your safety? Do these protocols make you feel safe?

#2 Get Tested

We know that there are things better left unknown – just there in the dark. And some of you probably feel this about getting yourself tested for COVID-19 since there is a 50% chance that you might have the virus. And if it turns out that you are positive about having the virus, then it will require you more money.

However, getting tested is more of a precaution and for the safety of others as it will ensure the people around you that you won’t infect them with the virus. Make sure to get tested before, during, and after your trip.

#3 Consider Your Mode of Transportation

Experts are encouraging travelers to consider their mode of transportation for their respective trips. That is why it is important to do some research before going on your trip to know what kind of transportation will you be needing for your planned travel.

If you can reach your destination within a day by driving, then maybe you can consider this as you will have lesser physical contact with others. Plus, who wouldn’t like a road trip?

#4 DIY or Takeout Meals

Of course, a trip is not a trip without food! And other than seeing the tourist spots of your desired destinations, we are sure you also want to try their local food. Plus, the best way to enjoy them is by dining in their restaurants, food courts, or eating by the stalls.

Sadly, you might want to consider taking out the meals for the disposables and eating with your utensils in your hotel. You can also just purchase DIY food packs.

#5 Stay Cautious

We know that no matter how strict some places or institutions implement their safety protocols, there will always be rulebreakers or self-entitled people around you. And as much as you hate to admit it, you have no control over them.

So what you can only do is to stay cautious yourself. Practicing the protocols that they implemented is already helps in keeping yourself and others safe.

We are hoping for your safe travels during these trying times!
