Blending the Old and the New

There are certain activities that you wouldn’t just believe would be witnessed in Dubai a few decades back. Being in the middle of the dessert, you would expect limited water in the city with hardly any facilities for water sports activities. Technology has however proven that even deserts can be transformed into exciting destinations. These two gentlemen are enjoying an exciting time paddle-boarding with their thobes and hair-dresses on. The Emiratis may be adopting new technologies and observing current trends but also stay true to their culture and traditions. The photo is evidence of how brilliantly new and old can be harmonized in Dubai. Just like their ancestors, the father and son are in their garbs and head-dresses while taking part in a modern activity that we initially never thought would be seen in a part of the world that is largely a dessert.
