Built above the Nakaumi Lake, Eshima Ohashi Bridge is a rigid-frame bridge that connects Sakaiminato to Matsue. The bridge was constructed between the years 1997 and 2004 and is the largest of its Kind in Japan and 3^rd largest worldwide. Photos of the bridge have gone viral on the internet owing to its apparent steep elevation when captured from a distance. Despite its very steep appearance, the bridge has a gradient of just 6.1%. It extends to a height of 144 feet.
