20 of the World’s Scariest Bridges

  •  Deception Pass Bridge, Washington State

Rising approximately 55m above the water surface, the Deception Pass Bridge is a picturesque landmark of Puget Sound region. The bridge extends to a length of about 453m and has a width of 8.5m. It is a two-span bridge with one covering the canoe pass and another over the Deception pass towards the south. Construction of the bridge was commenced in August of 1934 with the dedication following a year afterwards. While the bridge might look visually appealing, the thought of driving through it can be a little scary especially when it is covered in fog. Pedestrians are more likely to be scared of crossing the bridge since they will have to stare 108 feet down. Before the construction of the bridge that currently connects Fidalgo Island and Whidbey Island, travelling would be done exclusively by ferry. With the type of bridge, some people probably would still prefer a ferry ride.
