Christine Chubbuck

The early days of Christine Chubbuck’s career as a news reporter was a pretty successful one. She was an American news reporter that worked for WXLT TV as well as WTOG. Christine did amazing charity work and was renowned for the closeness she had with disabled children, she worked for their betterment and also helped alcoholics and drug abusers. Despite her great works of charity, she was battling depression and suffered suicidal tendencies. She got friends and family concerned about her. At one time in 1970, she tried to overdose on drugs.

She finally committed suicide in July of 1974 despite the numerous psychiatric treatments she underwent. She shot herself right on live TV. As usual, she was covering news when the incident took place. During the coverage, she expressed that she was bringing the “blood and guts” as usual then she shot herself on the head. She was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead 14 hours later. At the time of her death, she was 29 years of age.
