Hart Crane

Hart Crane committed suicide by leaping off a steamship in April of 1932. The American poet was on the ship known as Orizaba that was sailing the Gulf of Mexico at the time. It is believed that he threw himself of the ship after being assaulted for making sexual advances on the male members of the crew. He was reported intoxicated with alcohol prior to the incident. He left no suicide note behind and only yelled “Goodbye everybody” before jumping into the sea.
